Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

Well, there went the argument. I have no response to you anymore. You didn't say anything in your last post in response to me Jace other than to be belligerent. So, yeah. This argument is pretty much done. But because I'm a glutten for punishment and have a keyboard and am not just on my cell, let's...

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

I don't see the point of this anymore. I don't care what Gene would think. Gene hated my favorite Trek, Star Trek The Wrath of Khan. I don't lean on the Trope of thinking He was the final arbiter of Trek. As for anything else. At this point there is no point. You define Discovery as Star Trek and I ...

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

Okay, so agree with pretty much all JM has to say, Tilly's weight being especially egegious in the recent episode when she stopped for a time to argue with nothing and then still won a foot race. But I wish to raise another point. The fandom is split right now, and it is not a 50/50 split. It is har...

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

Jace, I cannot help but feel you are missing the point. There has been, at least until now, a connecting theme in all of the Trek shows. A theme of hope, exploration, and self-discovery. Ever since the new license was issued to Bad Robot and Trek was remade in a new image, it has been different. Thi...

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

Well, after the failure of the last episode I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, but honestly I enjoyed it. Great stuff with Saru. And Mike not being able to solve everything for once, refreshing.

The cringe is high on this one. Also, did they just basically confirm DSC is a reboot in that?

Re: Is anyone feeling ...

On to the point of this thread... It's almost like one is a passion project made by a fan after one to many rejections and he wanted to get it right, while the other is made by a company that cares more about money than theme and more about diversity than character. Honestly, how is it a surprise th...

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

Though both had issues I enjoyed episodes 1 and 2. Episode 3 felt like a return to form from season one. Just bad and though it tries hard to fix some continuity mistakes, it suffers from poor writing and a lackluster plot. On a side note, is anyone else really quite tired of Section 31? Like, it wo...

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

Honestly, I was ready to hate-watch season 2, but really it's proving to be vastly better than season 1. I mean I am deeply jaded at this point and in my mind, it is so far from canon that nothing they do means much of anything canon-wise, but really, there are other "official canon" things I don't ...

Re: A thought on certain romantic choices

I would have liked to see more of Ezri Dax but in all honesty it seems like Ezri was a backup plan DS9 and only came into play because of behind the scenes drama. Thus were weren't given much satisfaction in defining her. And though I have considered the relaunch books, I do not quite like the idea ...

Re: Starfleet Slight Against Thomas Riker

I'm going to side with the idea that Thomas was not ready for the burden of command. I believe that his time on the planet left him emotionally damaged and no where near as emotionally mature as Will would quickly become. I think Will got command not specifically for the mission, but for the skills ...

Re: A thought on certain romantic choices

An interesting idea, allow me to counter: Dax is neutral. Jadzia, who went to the symbiosis commission and was rejected and went again, who has dealt with trying to prove herself and in the end do so, sees Worf as closer to herself. She likes Klingon stuff as a holdover from Curzon, but she loves Wo...

Dark and Gritty

Well, with the recent dark and gritty reboot of Sabrina I find myself wondering. Why dark and gritty? I mean really? I don't get it. Star Trek DSC got that dark and gritty touch. DC got it. Again and again, I see something I used to enjoy brought back and given the dark and gritty treatment. It feel...

Re: Lower Decks Animated Comedy

I am not sure how to feel about this news. I wish there was a mainline show, in the vein of TOS or TNG with a new ship and crew taking place around 2465-2470.

I am not overly hyped as this feels like a detour. I want some fricking Star Trek
