Re: The Orville

Joe, at no point did I say any of that and you know it. At no point did I say that post was directed at you, and you know it. You, sirus and Gazomg are not the only people with whom I discuss this topic, and I have no doubt my other conversations color my statements here, too. My post, however, sta...

Re: The Orville

"It doesn't feel like Trek to me" is a legitimate criticism, whether newer fans like that or not. But the locus of that sentence is " to me ". "Stop expecting our standards to conform to yours", however, is a legitimate counter-argument to that criticism. It's not satisfying to the old guard, of whi...

Re: Mid 23rd Century Holographic Tech

This is certainly one of the controversial issues Discovery is handling exceptionally well. In this case, they're working within previously established parameters, which requires a subtler hand but results in a more elegant finished product.

Re: STAR WARS - EPISODE IX Trailer

I haven't been truly excited/hyped for a Star Wars film since The Phantom Menace. That movie broke Star Wars. It's never been the same since. It'll likely never recover.

Thor is another argument entirely. Mjolnir is easily more powerful than the Ring, so ... but relative to their literary cosmologies, the Ring is more important. Cap is worthy of Mjolnir in the comics ... as are Beta Ray Bill, Odin, Buri, Bor, Jane Foster, Dargo Ktor, Woden, Wonder Woman, et al . Vis...

Sam had the Ring so briefly that his resistance to it, while laudable, and demonstrating his extraordinary goodness and willpower, doesn't remotely compare to the steely determination of Frodo, who owned it for years, carried it for months, wore it on a number of occasions, and still managed to reac...

If Captain America/Steve Rogers (Marvel) had been given The One Ring to take to Mount Doom, could he ...

... have completed the quest? I answered this question elsewhere thus: Tolkien has made clear that no mortal being could have resisted the Ring sufficiently to cast it into Mount Doom. Even the extraordinarily moral and compassionate Frodo, at the last, claimed it for himself. Cap, moral paragon tho...

Holy cow, this is literally the best cover of a Zeppelin song I've ever heard.

Heart are legends in their own right.

And check out Zeppelin's reaction: They LOVE it!

I would, at this point, sell my own blood for enough to buy a ticket for me and my lovely lady ....

I'm sure your lovely lady doesn't take that personally.

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

Because I call it non-canon ... Point of order, and just to make it clear, with respect: You cannot make your own canon . Canon is whatever the owners/creators/stewards say it is , whether you like that or not. That's why Discovery is canon, now matter how fervently, even rabidly, you (or I) might ...
