Having seen the trailer and basic story - I feel like the season needs a cameo from Kevin Sorbo ... for some reason.
That may be the single best one-liner you've ever delivered here.

Re: D U N E - Trailer

I've always thought reading Herbert was like watching the grass grow.

I laughed and felt a little more vindicated when I read, some weeks ago, that Tolkien hated Dune.

Trailer looks cool.

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 3

...managed just the one episode of the latest cartoon series as that was insulting to my intelligence. I have not yet felt insulted ... and when last I checked, possessed a not-inconsiderable intellect (false modesty aside). It's meant to poke holes in the pretentiousness of Trek , and seems to be ...

One of the things I liked about Picard was that we were once again getting forward looking Trek ...
And let us remember to distinguish between "forward-looking" and "optimistic." Picard is not remotely the latter.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks

I have to be honest.

The show is growing on me. I enjoy it far more than I did Picard or Discovery.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks

Only elements of "Yesteryear" are considered canon, insofar as I know.

And the vastly inferior Star Trek: Discovery may have overturned that.

The second episode is less cute than the first. It's already losing its luster.

Have they declared that this is canon?
Please, do not go down that road. I beg you.
Hey, I ain't got nothin' to do with it.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks

It's pretty cute if you don't take it seriously.

Should we really be surprised that it's a caricature of Star Trek?

Have they declared that this is canon?

...but never watched a single episode of the animated series...
You should make an exception for "Yesteryear."

It is easily one of the twenty-best ever Trek episodes.

Re: What Song Are You Listening To? (4)

That song manages to be both catchy and irritating.

Par for the course with Imagine Dragons, though.

Terence Trent D'arby alert!

Re: Star Trek: Picard

While season one of Picard is far from perfect, I did enjoy it. I'd give it two and half out of four stars. I'd go, instead, two out of four stars [more specifically 1.875 or so, if we're going to get gymnastics technical], and largely if not entirely redeemed by the last four episodes in toto . Un...

I haven't watched this, yet. But his drunken articulations are usually spot on.

[Edit: I've watched it, now. Pay particular attention to 10:58 to 11:05; it's a summation of his in my opinion time-on-target analysis.]

Re: Star Trek: Picard

It didn't redeem the season, and I found the "Seven is a lesbian now!" denouement tiresome, but ... yeah. It was enjoyable in a rather predictable fashion.
