Sam had the Ring so briefly that his resistance to it, while laudable, and demonstrating his extraordinary goodness and willpower, doesn't remotely compare to the steely determination of Frodo, who owned it for years, carried it for months, wore it on a number of occasions, and still managed to reac...

If Captain America/Steve Rogers (Marvel) had been given The One Ring to take to Mount Doom, could he ...

... have completed the quest? I answered this question elsewhere thus: Tolkien has made clear that no mortal being could have resisted the Ring sufficiently to cast it into Mount Doom. Even the extraordinarily moral and compassionate Frodo, at the last, claimed it for himself. Cap, moral paragon tho...

Re: What Song Are You Listening To? (4)

Holy cow, this is literally the best cover of a Zeppelin song I've ever heard.

Heart are legends in their own right.

And check out Zeppelin's reaction: They LOVE it!

I would, at this point, sell my own blood for enough to buy a ticket for me and my lovely lady ....

I am not the sort to be satisfied easily ... or at all.
I'm sure your lovely lady doesn't take that personally.

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

Because I call it non-canon ... Point of order, and just to make it clear, with respect: You cannot make your own canon . Canon is whatever the owners/creators/stewards say it is , whether you like that or not. That's why Discovery is canon, now matter how fervently, even rabidly, you (or I) might ...

Re: Star Trek Discovery - Season 2

Again I have not watched this last season ... I'm in the same boat: I've seen all of the first four seasons and none of this one. I'm also all or most of a season behind on Black Lightning , Daredevil , The Flash , Into the Badlands and Vikings , as well as the aforementioned Star Trek: Discovery ....

Re: Captain Marvel and the MCU

Interesting. Captain Marvel doesn't even crack my top ten. I'm not even sure it's in my top fifteen, actually. It's a solid film, though. 1 Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), which I consider the greatest super-hero film ever made, surpassing even The Dark Knight 2 Thor: Ragnarok (2017), wh...

He says on a forum dedicated to Photomanipulations of Celebrities in Star Trek Uniforms for Star Trek Fanfiction. Thanks for pointing that out ... because, of course, your appreciation of irony is much more deeply evolved than mine. It's not sufficiently on point, though. Our work is ...

Re: Trailer:Brightburn

So it's a "What if Superboy were EEEVVVILLL?" story. Hope DC sues. I wish people could come up with their own ideas. You probably won't agree with this but.... isn't all fiction basically a matter of saying "What if?" What if instead of turning left, you went right? What if Kennedy hadn't been assa...

I read the first dozen or so. They're brutal.

Episode 10 is almost believable.
