Beginner's Selection

Post by andheeley » Sat Dec 10, 2011 1:39 pm

Hey folks,

I never realised this board even existed until today! So, as I've requested an image already from some of the fine artists here (mainly because I cannot do women properly!!) I thought I should at least give something back and post a few of my own (questionable) attempts!

Some are better than others...

First up, Alex Pettyfer in Movie-era uniform.

Next, Chris Hemsworth in Nemesis/DS9 medical/science uniform

Thanks, the later ones with with Photoshop, which - to be honest - gave me much better results with less effort once I'd figured it out! Just need more practice!

That Dalton image is fantastic. Only thing I mighta done would be to sharpen the background a bit so the face blends better. But really, it's marvelous!

Guys... I don't know how to be constructive in the presence of such
magnificnt art. this is some of the most incredible photoshop
work I've ever seen... and no. I'm not easily impressed.

I would swear on a stack of bibles that those are real actors
wearing those uniforms...

You are all to be comended for amazing work...

@CamSPD - thanks, high praise indeed! The image (uniform + background) is a screencap from STII:TWOK (as Adm. Kirk arrives on board); so the uniform is that of Capt. Spock, I didn't do anything with the uniform or background because the angles fitted almost perfectly with one of the few photos of Dalton (in his recent years) available, i just had to clone the surrounding background to remove Spock's head from the uniform.

Colour correcting was a bit of a pain, as the movie is very dark, and Dalton's head was outdoors, but it's almost there (not quite!)

All in all, I think those two are close to the best I've done; albeit D'Agosto's neck needs a bit of smoothing (in hindsight).

And
Kind regards
