Not so much interested in joining a fleet (already in one), but if RP continues to be scarce around there I might move my main RP character and just roll an alt for the fleet I'm in. Definitely look me up: Jessica St. Peter@TemplarSora

J, Cam asked me tonight if I would be interested in starting a fleet. She's still new and learning the game and I'm not much for being the boss. I prefer to stay behind the scenes. :wink:

So if you wanted to start one we'd probably join up.

I actually just wondered what you thought about fleets because I keept seeing people advertising them in the chatbox. it might be better for me to learn the game and get used to it before I get involved in something like that, not that I'm discouraging you guys from doing it.

Nah, a fleet would be the best way to learn. Especially one that has people who'll team up with you on missions. It makes it much more fun to play that way.

Well... I have been having fun with Jed the last few times I played. He has a new character at the same level as mine annd we teamed up a few times. Kinda felt like we were in a fleet even though there was just the two of us. I suppose, like him, I wouldn't want to be the one in charge.

But I suppose that I wouldn't mind being in one if I understood what it would mean. From what Jed explained the other night (as much as I recall of the convo) it would mean sharing energy points or something like that. Perhaps you could explain what goes along with joining a fleet? I'm afraid I don't remember everything Jed explained to me.

What I was saying is that when you're in a fleet it's kind of like being in a club. You'll have friends on and playing at the same time (usually) so you can team up for difficult missions, or get groups together for PVP rather than having to group with strangers. There's a fleet uniform that you can choose to wear so that everyone can have a similar look. A bank for gear and resources that everyone in the fleet can share. There may be more benefits but I haven't joined one yet so I'm not sure. I've been in "guilds" in other MMOs and that's all pretty standard stuff.

Ah. Well I'd join up with you and Jason. I know you guys...sorta. :wink:

The only thing I am still a little confused about is the sharing thing. I saw the bank terminals in the Exchange section, which fleets can share, but how do you get the stuff you share with your fleet? And why make it "official" when you can just make sure you hang out with pals and maybe even role-play in game and play missions together (like we've been doing?)? What are the benefits of joining a fleet? Does it somehow help you earn more points, rank, technology, equipment, etc.?

Sharing your stuff isn't a requirement or anything. Usually the higher level guys, like my main, are so rich they can afford to just dump gear they don't need in the fleet bank and the lower level members who actually need good gear can go in and take what they want. You can do the same thing by just opening up a trade with someone, like I did with you, but this way you have access to the items even if everyone else is offline.

I don't think it helps you earn anything extra or faster than you would without a fleet but I could be wrong. Someone who's been in one might know about things I haven't heared/read about. And I don't think there's anything "official" about it. Like I said it's like being in a club. Some people enjoy the prestige that might come with being in a fleet that say... does a lot of PVP (and does it well). Others form them specifically for Role Playing pruposes and while they're online they stay in character most of, if not all of, the time.

Oh I forgot one thing. You'll be able to place a "fleet logo" on the hull of your ship as well so people can identify you as part of that fleet.
